KEYS Resident Assistant FAQ
KEYS RAs will provide supervision and support to KEYS interns who will be living in campus housing dormitories during the summer internship.
We are looking for responsible, enthusiastic, and amicable leaders who want to inspire future interns, work on a team, and develop as mentors.
KEYS RA applications usually open at the beginning of each year. The 2026 applications are currently open and close February 22, 2026. Check the KEYS Resident Assistant page for details.
To be a KEYS RA you must be at least 18 years old by March 31, 2026, have maturity and the ability to assume responsibility and authority in appropriate situations, and have strong communication skills.
Additionally, hired KEYS RAs are required to perform a fingerprint background check and authorized adult training through the University of Arizona Office of Youth Protection.
You can still apply for a KEYS RA position, but preference is given to KEYS alumni.
KEYS RAs are expected to have part-time availability from March 30, 2026-May 29, 2026, for program training and certifications.
Full -time availability (40 hours a week) including weekend availability from May 30, 2026-July 20, 2026.
And are expected to live in campus dorm housing from May 30-July 17, 2026.
General duties include supervising KEYS participants in dorms and during social outings; conducting regular rounds to ensure safety; maintaining nightly duty logs; and staying aware of resident concerns through ongoing student engagement.
Responsibilities also include providing near-peer mentorship, academic support, and overall participant support; planning and leading dorm activities; and driving participants to social outings and weekly grocery trips using U of A vehicles. Staff meet weekly with KEYS housing and program teams.
Since KEYS runs for only 7 weeks out of the summer, we need staff who will be completely available for the duration of the summer.
After reviewing applications, program staff will send an email informing applicants whether or not their application was selected for an interview. The interview will then determine if you are hired. Check your email frequently - including your junk mail.
