Young scientists connect with community at BIO5 Institute event
In early April, KEYS alumni took center stage at the annual Behind BIO5 community event, showcasing their research during a poster showcase.

Sixteen alumni from the BIO5 Institute’s KEYS Research Internship impressed dozens of attendees from the University of Arizona and the broader community with their innovative projects.
Opportunities like this event give interns—many of whom are continuing their research in University of Arizona labs—a valuable platform to refine their science communication skills, gain deeper insights through exclusive lab tours, and interact with fellow interns and researchers.
"Behind BIO5 is one of my favorite events because I can reconnect with KEYS alumni from my year, meet alumni from past years, and get to know incoming interns,” said Michelle Hein, KEYS 2022 alum.

“Every KEYS student I've met is so passionate and kind. Events like these remind me about what I love about research: the community!" added Hein, a bioinformatics, statistics, and data science major.
